JAKARTA - The movement of tourists to the Puncak area, Bogor Regency is predicted to reach 2.83 million during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) holidays.
The potential movement of tourists is the result of a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Transportation Policy Agency (BKT).
Head of BKT Hermanta said the mobility of the largest person in the Jabodetabek agglomeration was in the Puncak area during the Nataru holiday this time.
"Jabodetabek requires a fairly solution strategy, where the burden from the highest area is in the Puncak area (Bogor Regency) from the agglomeration (Jabodetabek)," he said in a media briefing, in Jakarta, quoted on Saturday, December 6.
Based on the survey results, continued Hermanta, tourist interest in the Puncak area remains high, especially during the peak of this year's holiday or peak season.
"It turns out, this peak is still a place that is in demand by tourists, which is around 2.83 million people," he said.
Hermanta said that from the total movement of people to the peak area, 1.84 million tourists are estimated to come from Jabodetabek.
"And the 988,000 are outside Jabodetabek, such as the Tangerang and Karawang areas that contribute (tourist movements)," he said.
Previously, the Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi revealed that 119.5 million people were predicted to travel, both outside and within the province, during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) holidays.
Dudy said the prediction was based on a survey conducted by the Transportation Policy Agency of the Ministry of Transportation in collaboration with BPS, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, and Academics.
"According to a survey of 42.01 percent of Indonesia's population or around 119.5 million people have the potential to travel, during the Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 holiday," Dudy said at a media briefing in Jakarta, Friday, December 5.
