Sorikmas Mining Moves Fast To Help Residents Affected By Tropical Cyclone Compound Floods In Mandailing Natal

JAKARTA - PT Sorikmas Mining moved quickly to provide assistance to residents of Mandailing Natal who were affected by the flood due to Tropical Senyar Cyclone. From the first day, the Sorikmas Mining team immediately went to the location to help evacuate, secure residents, and ensure that emergency needs can be met quickly.

Director of PT Sorikmas Mining, Ghanis Kurnady, explained that the company team had been mapping the risk since November 25, 2025, when rainfall began to increase. When river water overflowed on November 26, Sorikmas Mining immediately dispatched a team for the evacuation process to the evacuation point set by the Mandailing Natal Regency Government. Ghanis emphasized that there were no casualties and the company focused on safety and initial handling in the field.

"We immediately sent a team and logistics to the field. We are very grateful that there were no casualties in this disaster. Our focus is on ensuring that residents are safe and emergency needs are met," he said, quoted on Saturday, December 6.

After the emergency phase, Sorikmas Mining continued its assistance through distribution of aid, operation of public kitchens for about 580 people, provision of clean water, fuel for government operations, as well as deployment of energy and equipment to clean public facilities that were submerged up to about two meters.

This recovery effort also reached Muara Batang Angkola Village, one of the areas worst affected. In the village, Sorikmas Mining helps clean mosques, schools, health centers, and access roads covered by flood materials.

The Regent of Mandailing Natal, Saipullah Nasution, appreciated the company's quick steps. According to him, Sorikmas Mining was present at the right time and helped areas that needed immediate treatment.

A similar support was conveyed by the Batahan sub-district head, whose area is one of the heavily affected areas. He said the assistance of Sorikmas Mining accelerated the normalization process of community activities after the flood receded.

"Support for personnel and equipment from Sorikmas Mining is very helpful. Cleaning public facilities can be done faster so that residents can return to their activities," he said.

Ghanis emphasized that Sorikmas Mining's commitment did not stop at the initial disaster management. The company ensures that it will continue to assist the community until all affected villages recover completely.

"Sorikmas Mining will continue to cooperate with the Regency Government, Regent and Deputy Regent, as well as all related parties until things recover," he said.
