JAKARTA - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) as Pertamina Gas Subholding moved quickly to help flood victims that hit a number of areas in North Sumatra on Friday, November 28.
As a form of emergency response, PGN prepared various initial assistance for logistics which included food needs, medicines, and equipment for mothers and children, which were immediately distributed to affected locations to support the fulfillment of basic needs of the community in the midst of a disaster situation. In the first stage, PGN distributed aid worth Rp180 million.
PGN's Corporate Secretary, Fajriyah Usman, expressed deep sympathy for the flood disaster that hit a number of areas in Sumatra. He emphasized that PGN also felt the sadness experienced by the workers and the affected communities, and was committed to being present to provide real assistance in the midst of this emergency situation.
"We are sorry for the tragedy that occurred and feel the severity of the conditions faced by the community. He explained that the first phase of assistance distributed by PGN focused on meeting the basic needs of the affected communities, ranging from food packages such as rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, mineral water, to eggs, as well as various basic medicines. In addition, PGN also provides equipment for mothers and children, including baby diapers and sanitary napkins, to ensure that the urgent needs of residents can be met during the emergency response period.
The assistance distributed includes food and consumption such as ready-to-eat food, rice, eggs, cooking oil, instant noodles, ready-to-wear clothes, biscuits, and mineral water. Then there is also assistance with health products and medicines, to the needs of mothers & children.
Fajriyah added, in addition to assistance from the North Sumatra region, PGN also sent additional logistical support from Jakarta. The assistance was dispatched in stages in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and relevant stakeholders using Hercules planes from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta.
