JAKARTA The Alliance of Mining Ring Communities (Almas Lintang) urges the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) to consider economic impacts for local residents in the discussion of Amdal addendum and RKL/RPL PT Dairi Prima Mineral (DPM).
The request was conveyed through a statement of support sent to the Minister of Environment and Forestry on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
The letter signed by the Chairman of Almas Lintang, Sahbin Cibro, representing residents from five villages and one kelurahan around the DPM operating area emphasized that the presence of the mining company since 1998 has increased local economic activity, including household income, job opportunities, and access to education.
Almas Lintang assessed that the sustainability of mining projects was an important part in encouraging economic growth in Silima Pangga-Punggga and Lae Parira sub-districts.
"For this reason, we fully support the presence of DPM as a mining sector investor who has good faith in improving people's welfare," the statement said.
The virtual Amdal addendum discussion meeting held by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry was attended by local governments, village heads, legal stakeholders, as well as representatives of companies and consultants.
In the forum, Almas Lintang also expressed objections to a number of organizations that rejected the presence of mining. They assessed that the opposing group did not come from affected areas and did not contribute economically to local residents.
Almas Lintang emphasized that people in the mining circle have a direct interest in managing mineral resources in their area.
Therefore, they asked the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to open a larger dialogue space with affected residents, as well as support the acceleration of the DPM operational permit so that economic benefits can be felt again.
