JAKARTA - PT Mandiri Investment Management (Mandiri Investasi) plans to launch a Gold-based ETF Sharia Mutual Fund product in the first quarter of 2026. To prepare for the launch and marketing of these investment products, today, Friday, November 28, Mandiri Investment signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PT Mandiri Sekuritas (Mandiri Sekuritas), which became the first Gold ETF Party Dealer in Indonesia.
The collaboration between Mandiri Investasi and Mandiri Sekuritas, which is part of the Bank Mandiri Group, aims to support the ETF Emas Syariah Mutual Fund trading ecosystem which will be launched by Mandiri Investasi to become liquid, affordable, and accessible, so that investors can make transactions to sell and buy ETF mutual fund participation units like stock transactions on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), through Mandiri Sekuritas as Dealer Participan.
According to the Mandiri Director of Investment Hardiyanto Piria, the Mutual Fund for Sharia Gold ETF which will be launched by Mandiri Investasi is a mutual fund in the form of a collective investment contract with physical gold underlying stored in the gold storage agency which is also registered as LJK Bulion. The Sharia Gold ETF Mutual Fund will offer direct exposure to pure physical gold in accordance with sharia principles based on the MUI DSN Fatwa No. 163/DSN-MUI/VII/2025.
The ETF Gold Syariah Mutual Fund that we will launch is expected to be a modern investment solution compared to investing in physical gold, because investors don't have to bother storing physical gold. In addition, the inclusion unit is designed to follow domestic or global gold prices, and is easy to trade at an affordable cost per unit of participation. Therefore, this product is suitable for all segments of investors," explained Hardiyanto.
Independent Investment is optimistic that investment products which are currently waiting for the issuance of regulations from the OJK will receive high interest from investors, both institutions and retail. The trend of demand for gold instruments has increased in recent years in line with the increasing dynamics of the global economy, market volatility, and investor needs for value-protecting assets. In fact, in the global market, gold ETF has become one of the most attractive investment instruments with AUM 472 billion US dollars as of the end of September 2025 according to the World Gold Council.
Meanwhile, in terms of Mandiri Sekuritas, apart from acting as an investor intermediary for transactions on the IDX, it will also act as an institution that purchases and sells physical gold with gold providers in the context of creating and redeeming units in the primary market and ensuring the availability of liquidity in the Sharia Gold ETF Mutual Fund from Mandiri Investment.
"We really welcome the cooperation to trade the Sharia Gold ETF Mutual Fund with competitive spreads and price volatility that are more managed with Independent Investment. This product has price information and a portfolio guaranteed to be transparent, because the Net Activities Value (NAB) is published regularly," said Mandiri Sekuritas President Director Oki Ramadhana.
"This product is a solution for investors, because later there will be no need to worry about the liquidity of the Sharia Gold ETF Mutual Fund transaction which will be launched by Mandiri Investment. This is because this investment product is designed to be very flexible, and is very suitable for investors who want to share gold as a safe heaven or diversify portfolio. Cooperation with Independent Investment will certainly provide security for investors, because it is supported by a large financial ecosystem in Indonesia, Mandiri Group, which is credible and reliable," continued Oki.
For Mandiri Investasi, the presence of this new investment product is expected to encourage an increase in Mandiri Investment Asset Under Management (AUM) in 2026. To note, until November 28, 2025, the total managed funds from various investment products released by the company, have reached more than IDR 70 trillion on a consolidated basis, which is projected to continue to increase until the end of 2025.
