Lack Of Economic Data, Rupiah Tends To Move Flatly

JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate in trading Friday, November 28, 2025, is estimated to have strengthened against the United States (US) dollar.

Citing Bloomberg data, at the end of last week, Thursday, November 27, 2025, the rupiah spot exchange was closed higher by 0.17 percent to the level of Rp. 16,635 per US dollar.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) exchange rate of Bank Indonesia (BI) closed up 0.17 percent to a price level of IDR 16,644 per US dollar.

Doo Financial Futures analyst Lukman Leong said that the rupiah is expected to move flat with a limited tendency to strengthen against the US dollar, along with the absence of important economic data and Thanksgiving holiday momentum.

"The rupiah is expected to be flat with a limited tendency to strengthen against the US dollar amid the absence of important economic data and Thanksgiving holidays," he told VOI, Friday, November 28.

Money market observer Ibrahim Assuaibi explained that President Donald Trump called for a larger cut in interest rates to boost the United States' economy, although most of the Fed rejected the call on the grounds of the need for caution against stagnant inflation.

"However, some Fed officials said in the past week that cutting interest rates to support the labor market was prioritized over stagnant inflation, and that price pressure is also likely to subside in the coming months," he said in a statement, quoted Friday, November 28.

In addition, he conveyed that the turmoil in the property market had also surfaced after a series of Chinese economic data showed a fairly good performance in recent months.

"Chigkok is considering further stimulus for the property market, amid a four-year decline in the sector. Beijing is also seen considering more consumer subsidies and other measures to increase spending," he explained.

Ibrahim estimates that the rupiah will fluctuate in trading Friday, November 28, 2025, in the price range of IDR 16,630 - IDR 16,660 per US dollar.

Meanwhile, Lukman projects that the movement of the rupiah on Friday, November 28, will move in the range of Rp16,600 per US dollar to Rp16,700 per US dollar.
