JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) said that the performance of the textile industry sub-sector is still contracting, aka not yet rising in November 2025.

In fact, the Ministry of Industry noted, if the textile industry experienced a deep contraction.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry Febri Hendri Antoni Arif said the contracting industry is an export-oriented textile sector, especially in bounded areas.

"The Ministry of Industry has been pushing for a reduction in the quota of industrial products in the tied area to enter the domestic market. Previously, there was still 50 percent of the quota, so we want to drop to 25 percent," said Febri in the release of the Industrial Trust Index (IKI) November 2025 at the Ministry of Industry Building, Jakarta, Thursday, November 27.

Febri suspects that this has made IKI the textile industry sector contract.

Even so, he said, the industry in the tied area should be again export-oriented.

"The formation of a tied area was originally so that industrial products were exported. Because if the product enters the domestic market, the product will compete with products from industries outside the tied area. It makes industrial products outside the tied area difficult to compete," he said.

The Ministry of Industry noted that the industrial confidence index (IKI) in November 2025 reached 53.45.

This figure is down 0.05 points from IKI in October 2025 which was recorded at 53.50.

On the other hand, the value of IKI November 2025 increased by 0.50 points when compared to the value of IKI in November 2024 which was 52.95.

Of the 23 processing industry sub-sectors analyzed, there are 22 sub-sectors experiencing expansion and one sub-sector experiencing contraction.

The expansion sub-sector contributed 98.8 percent to the GDP of the non-oil and gas processing industry in the third quarter of 2025.

The two sub-sectors with the highest value of IKI are the tobacco processing industry (KBLI 12) and the pharmaceutical industry, chemical products and traditional medicines (KBLI 21).

Meanwhile, the sub-sector that experienced contraction was the textile industry (KBLI 13).
