Deputy Minister Of ATR/BPN Guarantees Mafia Cannot Annex Electronic Certified Land

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Deputy Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Ossy Dermawan guarantees that the land mafia will not be able to annex land and already have an electronic land certificate.

"If someone intends to interfere, like the land mafia wants to annex it, they can't do it easily," Ossy was quoted as saying on the official website of the Ministry of ATR/BPN, Thursday, November 27.

According to Ossy, the rampant land mafia generally originated from weak ownership documents. Therefore, he said, the history of land ownership must be maintained properly.

"We at the Ministry of ATR/BPN maintain the land data. However, as land owners, the public must also maintain its ownership documents. One of them is by converting analog certificates into electronic certificates," he said.

Transformation towards electronic certificates is believed to provide layered protection because ownership data is not only physically stored, but is also digitally recorded.

Ossy assessed that electronic tawang certificates are also integrated with the Touch Tanahku application. So, people can download it for free from Android and iOS devices.

Touching Tanahku allows people to check land status to ensure the authenticity of certificates independently from anywhere and anytime.

"So, if there is an incident, people claim to have confessed to their land or want to check the original or fake certificate, everything can be checked through Touching Tanahku," he said.

Responding to the widespread circulation of fake certificates, Ossy reiterated that digitalization is the most effective solution.

Unlike analog certificates in the form of books that are prone to duplicates, electronic certificates have layered security and recording systems are much more detailed.

"Electronic certificates are printed with special paper and recorded in a digital system. They are not easily falsified. Even if they are lost or burned, ownership rights remain safe because they cannot be transferred," he added.
