KAI Boss About KRL Discourse Operating 24 Hours: When Are We Checking The Cable?

JAKARTA PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAl has opened its voice regarding the request that the Commuter Line Electric Rail Train (KRL) operate for a full 24 hours.

The discourse is being studied with the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

Director of KAI Commuter, Bobby Rasyidin, finds the idea interesting in terms of improving services.

However, he said, train operations could not be immediately extended without careful calculations.

"Of course, in terms of customer service, this is a positive thing. But of course we have to calculate (less and more), which is called the operation of this train, it's not simple that we have to force it," he said when met at Gambir Station, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 25.

In addition, Bobby also said that the operation of trains is not as simple as extending service hours.

One of the considerations is related to the time the need for maintenance of facilities and infrastructure.

Bobby said that if the KRL operates for 24 hours, when the routine check time will be carried out, including the electricity system that supplys train trips.

"We have to calculate how long the treatment window will take. Then how about from the window, from the electrification. That's the electricity above too. If the electricity flow is 24 hours, well when we check the cable," said Bobby.

Bobby also mentioned the risk of network disruptions that can occur at any time, referring to the kite incident that interferes with the operations of the Fast Train

Lebih lanjut, Bobby bilang, kereta api jarak jauh (KAJJ) memiliki sistem yang lebih kompleks dibandingkan Kereta Cepat Whoosh yang hanya melayani perjalanan Jakarta-Bandung.

“Jangan-jangan kabelnya, seperti kan teman-teman dengar sendiri kan. Kalau di Whoosh itu ada layangan nyangkut aja, itu (operasional) berhenti. Apalagi ini jaringan yang jauh lebih panjang,” kata Bobby.

Furthermore, Bobby said, long-distance trains (KAJJ) have a more complex system than high-speed trains that only serve Jakarta-Bandung trips.

"Couldn't it be like you guys hear it yourself. If there is a kite stuck, it (operational) stops. Moreover, this is a much longer network," said Bobby.
