The Ministry Of Public Works Calls Normalization Of The Ciliwung River 16 Kilometers Starting 2027

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) said that river normalization or Ciliwung river in Jakarta, out of a total length of 33 kilometers (km), now 16 km remains.

This was marked by the Ciliwung River crossing activity by the Ministry of Public Works (PU) and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government today.

"We want to make sure that as long as the Ciliwung River is clean of garbage, that's one. And secondly regarding the building border, we have had close discussions with the regional government and city governments in DKI Jakarta almost every day about which one we have to clean up the river border," said PU Minister Dody Hanggodo in his opening remarks for the 80th series of Public Works Service Day (PU) on the banks of the Ciliwung River, Jakarta, Friday, November 21.

On a separate occasion, Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti explained that the Jakarta Provincial Government will carry out land acquisition for river border in 2026. Thus, the normalization of 16 kilometers of the Ciliwung River will be carried out starting in 2027.

"The target must be completed as soon as possible. This just depends on the land acquisition," said Diana.

However, Diana was reluctant to reveal how much the total budget was spent on the project. It's just that, he said, the project is multi-year contract (MYC).

"The total budget cannot be remembered, but it is MYC, yes, and we must do this together with DKI Jakarta," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, said that the Jakarta Provincial Government carried out land acquisition for river border in two urban villages.

The two urban villages in question, namely Cililitan, have 37 fields with a budget of IDR 111 billion and 54 areas with a budget of IDR 121 billion. Thus, the total land acquisition of the two urban villages is IDR 232 billion.

"Thus, these two urban villages we will do to normalize Ciliwung," he said.

In addition, Pramono said the Jakarta Provincial Government would normalize and clean up the 1.3 kilometer Krukut River.

The normalization of the Krukut River is one of them to save the Kemang area and its surroundings, which often floods.

"For that, we ask for permission and will immediately start and several other places remain, such as the Pesanggrahan River, we continue to care for, dredge and several other rivers," he explained.
