JAKARTA - Underpass Joglo is one of five infrastructure projects that President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday, November 19.

The infrastructure project is designed to unravel congestion at the Joglo intersection, which was previously a intersection with seven road arms.

One of the intersections is Jalan Ki Mangun Sarkoro, which is an inter-city route with large traffic vehicles that often pass.

The benefits of projects that residents and road users can feel are mobility faster and safer.

On that occasion, the Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, said that the infrastructure development was part of the government's efforts to strengthen a safe and sustainable urban infrastructure network.

"The development of this infrastructure is certainly a representation of connectivity in line with the Astacita program of the President of the Republic of Indonesia at the 3rd point, namely strengthening connectivity and growing commodity value to improve public services," said Dody at the inauguration.

Prior to operation, the underpass had gone through a safety audit by related agencies, including the feasibility of structures, markings and signs, drainage systems to safety aspects for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

Hutama Karya (Persero) has always recorded that the project contractor also recorded zero accidents during the construction period of the 395-day project thanks to the implementation of a strict K3 system and gradual traffic regulation so that community activities continue to run smoothly.

On a separate occasion, Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary Hutama Karya Mardiansyah explained, Joglo's Underpass was present as an answer to the urgent need to unravel the density of Joglo Intersections, which for years have been a bottleneck for transportation in Solo.

According to him, the completion of the Joglo Underpass is a tangible manifestation of the Ministry of Public Works in presenting infrastructure that has a direct impact on the community.

"We as project implementers also ensure that every stage of construction meets quality, safety and sustainability standards, so that this underpass can be used optimally and provides comfort for all road users," he said.

Joglo's underpass is also designed with a distinctive local culture. From the visual side, the infrastructure wall is beautified with a typical Solo ornament "Kembang Edi Peni" which gives a touch of local culture to modern concrete structures.

On top of it, the roundabout area is reorganized with a green landscape neater and more open, presenting modern and comfortable city spaces.

The entire composition is getting stronger with the existence of railroad bridge tracks above the underpass, creating visual harmony between road transportation, green space and rail networks.

Now, Joglo Underpass is present as a new icon of Solo Raya mobility, presenting the harmony between the modern structure, green space and the railroad crossing bridge on it which is a typical visual of the region.

This infrastructure is expected to strengthen connectivity between areas, support economic activity and provide better driving comfort for the entire community.

"We will continue to provide safe, modern and beneficial infrastructure for the wider community. Joglo's underpass is a real step in creating a smoother, more organized urban transportation system and supporting sustainable regional growth," he added.
