Ministry Of ATR/BPN Reveals 427 Fields Of Ulayat Land In Papua Potentially Disertified

JAKARTA - The results of the identification of the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) and Cenderawasih University, there are 427 areas of customary land that have the potential to be certified.

For the Ministry of ATR/BPN, the certification of customary land is not limited to carrying out its duties and responsibilities alone, but provides legal certainty over customary rights that have grown and developed in society.

"So, this (certification) is called the synergy of customary law and national land law. National land law can run, customary law is protected. So, synergy and harmony," said Minister of ATR/BPN Nusron Wahid quoted from the official website of the Ministry of ATR/BPN, Thursday, November 20.

With this socialization, it is hoped that it can provide more understanding for indigenous peoples, so that they want to interpret the customary land.

Nusron also emphasized that the registration of customary land is not to take over customary authority, but to ensure that the rights of indigenous peoples are clearly recorded and protected from potential disputes.

"In fact, the state recognizes the communal rights of indigenous peoples, but it is recorded so that the state understands and understands that this belongs to the custom," he said.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Ribka Haluk emphasized that the central government is fully committed to supporting the protection of customary land in Papua.

"The land for the community is not just economic assets, but it is identity, self-respect, identity. Must receive appreciation and justice for all lands in Papua," he explained.

Sementara itu, Wakil Gubernur Papua, Aryoko Alberto Ferdinand Rumaropen menilai, pengadministrasian serta pendaftaran tanah ulayat merupakan langkah penting dalam memperkuat implementasi otonomi khusus Papua.

"Acara ini memperkuat implementasi otonomi khusus di Tanah Papua, terutama afirmasi bagi orang asli Papua agar hak-hak dasar mereka dijaga dan dihormati," tuturnya.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of Papua, Aryoko Alberto Ferdinand Rumaropen assessed that administrators and registration of customary land are important steps in strengthening the implementation of Papua's special autonomy.

"This event strengthens the implementation of special autonomy in Papua, especially affirmations for indigenous Papuans so that their basic rights are maintained and respected," he said.
