JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) targets a potential investment value of IDR 2-3 trillion in Investment and Business Matching activities which are attended by 300 participants from within and outside the country.
This was conveyed by the Acting Director General of Strengthening Competitiveness for Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) KKP Machmud at a press conference in Jakarta, Thursday, November 20.
"The target is, yes, around Rp. 2-3 trillion for current activities," said Machmud.
According to Machmud, many investors are interested in investing in the seaweed sector (seaweed). The reason is, seaweed from Indonesia can be used for non-food.
The foreign investors who are interested in investing in the Indonesian seaweed sector are the Netherlands.
"(Prospective investors) are mostly (attractable) to seaweed, yes. So, our position is indeed the largest country and it can be used downstream. For example, for straws only, they will invest here because the position of the straw has started not (used) plastic, but uses seaweed," he said.
Then, said Machmud, there are also potential investors who are interested in entering the salt sector. According to him, the target of the Indonesian government to self-sufficiency in salt in 2027 will be the trigger.
"So, indeed in 2027 we will do all of the self-sufficiency in salt, it turns out that with such a policy many investors come to be able to invest in Indonesia," he said.
