The Minister Of Home Affairs Emphasizes The Importance Of Decent And Healthy Residential For The Community

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian emphasized the importance of decent, comfortable, and healthy housing for urban communities in order to support the realization of more secure and comfortable urban governance.

The Minister of Home Affairs said he had seen and observed firsthand the countries of Singapore and China in improving housing management in urban areas. In the late 1990s, residential areas in the two countries were still very dense, but gradually became more organized in line with the construction of flats or vertical housing.

"Well, actually we hope that Jakarta can be like that. Change. And that but we have to start from socialization to the community," said the Minister of Home Affairs quoting Antara.

He assessed that the construction of flats in densely populated areas, including in Jakarta, needs to be reproduced. The vertical residential model is considered capable of improving urban planning while facilitating the provision of various public facilities needed by the community, such as sports facilities and green open spaces.

The Minister of Home Affairs also said that during his tenure as Kapolda Metro Jaya, he helped the Governor of DKI Jakarta at that time in controlling slums along the river.

Residents were then relocated to flats. Thanks to the cooperation of various parties, the community gradually moved to that location.

He hopes that in the future community participation in the housing program will increase. Thus, in addition to obtaining a healthier environment, the community can also become more productive, thus having an impact on improving the economy.

The Minister of Home Affairs emphasized that this spirit is in line with the view of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto who wants to improve people's welfare.

Therefore, President Prabowo carries various prorakyat programs such as the Three Million Houses Program, Red and White Villages Cooperatives, Fishermen's Villages, to the Food Security Program.

"So (let's) help you together, voice it to the community. This is Mr. Prabowo's program, this is a very small program," said the Minister of Home Affairs.
