PLN Presents The First SPKLU Center In Yogyakarta

PT PLN (Persero) inaugurated the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) Center at the Yogyakarta PLN Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3) Office, Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Region, Thursday 6 November.

The SPKLU Center is a large-scale electric vehicle charging center that has at least 10 charger connectors. This infrastructure is built in strategic locations and is equipped with integrated facilities and management to improve the convenience of EV users.

General Manager of PLN Central Java and DIY Distribution Main Units, Bramantyo Anggun Pambudi explained, the SPKLU Center at the Yogyakarta UP3 Office, consists of eight ultra fast chargers with a total of 16 connectors, one standard charger unit with one connector, and one two-wheeled SPKLU unit with 6 connectors.

"This facility is also supported by a modern waiting room (lounge) to provide comfort for electric vehicle users," he said in a statement to the media, Saturday, November 8.

He added, in addition to supporting the EV ecosystem, this initiative is expected to encourage the tourism sector and the creative industry in Yogyakarta, which is now starting to adapt to the low-emission concept.

Yogyakarta recorded the highest intensity of electric vehicle charging transactions in Central Java with an increase in transactions reaching 344 percent compared to last year. This shows that people are increasingly ready to switch to electric vehicles, and PLN is here to ensure its infrastructure, "explained Bramantyo.

Assistant to the DIY Regional Secretariat for the Economy and Development, Tri Saktiyana, said that the presence of this SPKLU Center is important in strengthening the infrastructure of electric vehicles in Yogyakarta, considering the number of users continues to increase over time.

Professor of Electronic Engineering at Gajah Mada University, Tumiran, who was also present at the inauguration, assessed that the operation of the SPKLU Center was an integral part of efforts to accelerate the national energy transition.

The Yogyakarta SPKLU Center is the foundation of Smart Grid City which integrates renewable energy, digitization, and electric mobility. This is not just a facility, but a symbol of a change towards technology-based clean energy," said Tumiran.

Meanwhile, the Director of Distribution of PLN, Arsyadany G. Akmalaputri, said that the construction of the SPKLU Center will continue to be boosted to ensure EV customers get maximum service for electric vehicles.

"This SPKLU Center is a symbol of PLN's seriousness in building an efficient and environmentally friendly future of transportation. With the presence of this facility, Yogyakarta is increasingly ready to become a low-emission city model in Indonesia," said Arsyadany.

Arsyadany explained, until November 2025, PLN together with strategic partners had operated more than 4,400 SPKLU units in 2,700 locations throughout Indonesia, including 308 EV Charger units in 198 points in Central Java (Central Java) and DIY.
