JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman prepared the construction of an integrated chicken farm worth IDR 20 trillion in 2026 to support the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program and strengthen national food security and independence.

"A broiler farm will be built, and laying (which) is integrated. There is a special budget of IDR 20 trillion, we will make it throughout Indonesia," he said after the Finalization Meeting of the Downstream Plantation and Industry Program with the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming as well as the CEO of Danantara Rosan Perkasa Roeslani at the Head Office of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, November 8.

He said the big step was an important part of the national strategy to support the MBG program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto to improve the nutrition of the nation's children towards Indonesia Gold 2045.

He explained that the construction of broiler and laying hens was carried out thoroughly in Indonesia, which still lacks the supply of chicken and eggs.

"We (will) supply (the MBGs program), lest the eggs and chickens go short or lack in the future. So we prepare it from now on," he said.

According to him, the large investment was the result of a strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Danantara who took part in funding and implementing the program.

"Dendanaan dari Danantara, akan dibangun di seluruh Indonesia yang kekurangan, shortage, untuk dagingan henak dan egg," katanya.

The government ensures that the entire process of planning and feasibility study (FS) is completed in a short time so that this project can start immediately in January 2026.

He said the construction of this farm would be one of the main foundations in maintaining the sustainability of animal protein supplies for the Indonesian people in the future.

With an integrated livestock system, the production of chickens and eggs is expected to increase significantly so as to reduce potential scarcity and maintain price stability in the market.

Amran is optimistic that with the support of all parties including Danantara, Indonesia can achieve sustainable food-based independence.

"We are starting now pre-FS (feasibility study. Then God willing, hopefully January will start," he said.

He hopes that the Rp20 trillion fund from Danantara can be disbursed in January 2026 so that the integrated chicken farm development can start on time and have a real impact on food security.
