BANYUWANGI - Shares of PT Merdeka Battery Materials Tbk (MBMA), a subsidiary of PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk (MDKA), have experienced a significant increase in recent times. This increase is in line with the progress of various strategic projects in the nickel sector which are being run by the Merdeka Group.
For information, shares of PT Merdeka Battery Materials Tbk (MBMA) jumped 4.88 percent in a month or a mount to date (mtd) and since the beginning of the year or year to date (ytd) rose 40.83 percent to level 645.
MDKA Corporate Communication Tom Malik said that currently the Mineral Light Sulawesi (SCM) mine owned by the Merdeka Group has operated a limousine delivery route to the Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIT) processing facility through the pipeline system.
He added that in this process, nickel ore was converted into slurry (liquid mud form) before being pumped into the processing plant.
"In SCM mining, we ourselves are also in the process of having one. From SCM we send the limousine to IMIT through the pipe. So the ore is made into a plot like mud and then pumped. Now there is one running," he said at Mine Tour & Media Workshop, Friday, November 7.
To note, the Mineral Light Sulawesi (SCM) mine owned by the Merdeka Group has large mineral resources, reaching 13.8 million tons of nickel (77 percent limousine and 23 percent saprolyte) and 1.0 million tons of cobalt.
Tom said that by the end of this year his party would add a second route, while next year they would rebuild the third route.
He added that investment in pipeline infrastructure is a strategic step to increase logistics cost efficiency so that ore delivery is much more efficient and stable.
"By the end of the year there will be a second. Next year we will make another one. So that is very efficient in transportation costs, it is quite a large investment," he said.
In addition to developing the ore transportation system, Tom said Merdeka is also building a second High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) plant with a capacity of 90 thousand tons, which is targeted to start producing in the middle of next year.

"Secondly, we are also building our second HPAL with a capacity of 90 thousand. It is hoped that by the middle of next year production will start," he said.
He added that his party saw the real progress of the various ongoing projects so that once the pipeline and new factory are fully operational, it is estimated that revenue will increase significantly next year.
"So it seems that there are projects and progress is made because once we have a pipe, it sends cheaper ore. We have a factory in IMIT, so I can imagine that next year there will be an increase in revenue from new factories," he said.
