JAKARTA - Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita conveyed a firm message to business actors that the government does not compromise on any form of fraud in export activities.

The hard Ultimatum was given so that entrepreneurs carry out export activities in an accountable manner and according to the rules.

"I would like to give a special message to business actors that the government will not compromise any form of fraud, including all forms of fraud in export activities," Agus said at a press conference at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Friday, November 7.

This statement was made by the Minister of Industry after the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) together with the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) and the Special Task Force for Optimizing State Revenue (Satgas OPN) of the National Police confiscated 87 containers containing palm oil derivative products suspected of violating export provisions.

Allegations of violations were committed by PT MMS with a potential state loss of Rp28.7 billion.

The results of the examination showed that the items that were notified as fatty matter actually contained crude palm oil (CPO) derivative products.

In fact, the initial export document stated that the commodity was free from the provisions of exit duties and a ban on export restrictions (Lartas).

Agus emphasized that such illegal export practices not only harm state revenues, but also hinder the downstreaming program of the palm oil industry that is being intensified by the government.

He added that the government continues to strive to strengthen industry governance and improve the Incremental Capital Output Ratio (ICOR) according to President Prabowo Subianto's direction.

Law enforcement efforts against export violations, said Agus, are part of concrete steps to improve investment efficiency while strengthening the national economy.

"We are carrying out what is the order of the President, namely we are trying in such a way that there will be improvements from ICOR, and this is one of the concrete efforts in order for us to improve ICOR. In order for us to increase state revenue through taxes and in turn it will strengthen the national economy," he explained.

Agus hopes that this joint operation can provide a deterrent effect to companies that export illegal.

As a step to strengthen supervision, the Ministry of Industry has issued Minister of Industry Regulation (Permenperin) Number 32 of 2024 concerning the Classification of Palm Oil Derivative Commodities.

The regulation is a technical reference for related ministries and institutions in the preparation of fiscal policies and supervision of exports of processed palm oil commodities.

"This rule should be used as a guideline in the preparation of fiscal policies and export supervision of palm oil processing commodities, related ministries and institutions," he continued.
