The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has allocated a budget of IDR 351.83 billion to support disaster emergency preparedness and response programs throughout 2025.
The budget is used to strengthen public infrastructure, accelerate emergency handling and support post-disaster recovery throughout Indonesia.
PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said that national preparedness within the Ministry of Public Works is based on three main pillars, namely infrastructure preparedness and public safety, integrated command and fast response technology as well as humane and sustainable public services.
"Every second involves life. The Ministry of Public Works must be present, work quickly and ensure that infrastructure continues to function for the safety of the people," said Dody in a written statement, Wednesday, November 5.
Of the total 2025 emergency response budget, as much as Rp. 300 billion was allocated to the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Water Resources and Rp. 51.8 billion for the Directorate General of Highways.
The Ministry of Public Works has also alerted 5,755 units of heavy equipment, 382,044 logistical materials and 3,455 personnel ready to be deployed in the field.
Until early November 2025, the realization of budget absorption reached Rp261.9 billion or around 74.4 percent.
The main focus of using these funds is the handling of hydrometeorological disasters, such as floods and landslides.
Some of the activities that have been carried out include handling the cold lava flood of Mount Semeru in Lumajang Regency, East Java, as well as handling abrasion and tidal flooding in North Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu.
The remaining budget of Rp. 89.9 billion is prepared to deal with potential disasters by the end of the year, in line with the forecast for high rainfall of more than 2,500 mm per year based on the BMKG Climate Outlook 2025.
Meanwhile, based on data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) until November 2, 2025, it was recorded that 2,715 disasters occurred throughout Indonesia.
Of these, floods became the highest frequency disaster, reaching 1,337 incidents or around 49.24 percent.
For 2026, the Ministry of Public Works projects an emergency response budget to Rp449.1 billion.
The increase in funds aims to strengthen the capacity of fast handling in the field and support the use of technology in disaster management systems.
