MBG Program Kerek Inflation Of Eggs And Chicken Meat In October 2025

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) revealed that broiler eggs and broiler meat were the main contributors to inflation in October 2025. Both experienced a significant price increase amid increasing public demand.

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, BPS Pudji Ismartini, explained that inflation in the two commodities was influenced by various factors, one of which was an increase in demand related to the implementation of the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program which had been running in the last few months.

"Regarding the demand for broiler eggs and broiler meat, the implementation of the MBG program has lasted for several months to help encourage a surge in demand for broiler eggs and broiler meat which is part of the MBG program menu," said Pudji in the BRS Release in Jakarta, Monday, November 3.

Based on BPS records, said Pudji, inflation of broiler eggs reached 4.43 percent and broiler meat at 1.13 percent in October 2025. Both commodities contributed greatly to the increase in the Consumer Price Index (IHK) that month.

"Both of them are the main contributors to inflation in October 2025," he said.

In addition to increasing demand, the increase in prices was also due to rising production costs. Several factors that influence, among others, the increase in the price of live birds and feed corn in a number of areas.

"In addition, (the request) was also driven by an increase in the price of live birth and feed corn in several areas," he said.

Even so, Pudji emphasized, the direct influence of the MBG program on inflation rates cannot be calculated specifically by BPS.

"The amount of specific inflation for the MBG program is not calculated in the BPS inflation calculation, yes. So that the region experiencing inflation because the MBG program also cannot be specifically visible," explained Pudji.

As a whole, BPS recorded inflation in October 2025 of 0.28 percent on a monthly basis (mtm), with annual inflation (yoy) reaching 2.86 percent and inflation in the calendar year (ytd) at 2.10 percent.
