Indonesia Prepares Investment Land For Palestine Up To 15 Thousand Hectares In Kaltara

JAKARTA - The Indonesian government supports Palestine in the agricultural sector through the provision of investment land of 10 to 15 thousand hectares in North Kalimantan which will be developed into food areas, livestock, and sustainable integrated agro-industry.

"For us, helping Palestine is not only about food, but about humanity," said Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Andi Amran Sulaiman as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, November 1.

Amran emphasized that Indonesia is serious about building humanitarian-oriented food cooperation for the Palestinian people. Indonesian support is realized in real terms through investment and sustainable agricultural development.

"Our brothers and sisters there deserve a decent life, including the right to food," said the Minister of Agriculture.

Amran has held a meeting with the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al-Shun in order to discuss this matter.

As a first step, Indonesia provides investment land for Palestine covering an area of 10 to 15 thousand hectares in North Kalimantan.

The land will be developed into an integrated area for food, livestock and agroindustry plantations, involving SOEs, the private sector, and international policy partners in Southeast Asia and other friendly countries.

"Palestinian is an important part of this initiative," Amran said.

Amran emphasized that Indonesia will continue to support Palestine, especially through the development of horticulture, transfer of technology and training for agricultural human resources.

Indonesia stands with Palestine, not only diplomatically, but also through concrete cooperation in the food sector. This is a form of grounded support, "he said, asserting.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al-Shun appreciated Indonesia's commitment, and called the cooperation a new milestone in bilateral relations that strengthens solidarity and cross-border collaboration between nations.

Ambassador Zuhair also said that the visit of the Palestinian investment technical team to Indonesia was likely delayed due to the unfavorable security situation in Palestine.

However, he ensured that the Palestinian government would continue to coordinate and look forward to the best time for the project to be implemented.

He also expressed his deep gratitude to the Indonesian government for its consistency in its support for the struggle of the Palestinian people.

"I have great respect for this country, because I know how hard Indonesia is working for us. I've been here for eight years. If I don't serve, I won't leave this country. That's my promise to you," Zuhair said.

In addition to land investment, Indonesia-Palestinian cooperation also includes exchanges of sustainable agricultural technology, such as water-saving irrigation, desert agriculture, development of climate-resistant seeds, and a digital and hydroponic modern agricultural system.

In the field of human resources (HR), Indonesia will expand the training quota for young farmers and Palestinian agricultural officials, including internships on integrated agricultural land in Kalimantan and Sulawesi.

As a follow-up, the two countries will form a Joint Working Committee in early 2026 to finalize the action plan and ensure timely implementation of all agreed initiatives.
