JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade has succeeded in uncovering fraudulent practices carried out by Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU) in Bogor to Sleman and has the potential to harm the community to reach Rp6.2 billion in one year.

The Director General of PKTN of the Ministry of Trade, Moga Simatupang, said that gas stations in several areas carried out fraudulent practices in the form of reducing the amount of fuel oil (BBM).

"This cheating practice is done by adding additional equipment to the fuel measuring pump," Moga said in an official statement, Thursday, October 30.

Moga said there was a difference of 600 to 740 milliliters (ml) from an average of 20 liters of fuel issued in the fraudulent practice.

Furthermore, Moga said that this value exceeded the Allowed Error Limit (BKD).

"On average, from 20 liters of fuel issued, there is a difference of minus 600 to 740 ml. This value exceeds BKD by approximately 0.5 percent of the volume of fuel," he said.

In addition to revealing the fraud committed by gas stations, Moga said the Ministry of Trade also found around 80 companies indicated to have committed violations in the distribution of Oil cooking oil from November 2024 to March 2025.

The findings are the result of the supervision of the Ministry of Trade with the Indonesian Police Food Task Force (Polri), related ministries and institutions, as well as trade offices in the regions. Supervision is carried out on 316 business actors in 23 provinces.

Furthermore, Moga said that the alleged discrepancy includes not having legality, distribution irregularities, sales above the highest retail price (HET), to fraudulent doses.

The Ministry of Trade has also taken firm action against two packaging companies in Tangerang, Banten, and Karawang Regencies, West Java, which carry out the packaging of Oilita that is not in accordance with the provisions.

"In this case, the two packers were found to have reduced the dose and use of commercial cooking oil to be used as Oilita, as well as the misuse of licenses for the Oilita brand," he said.

Moga said these actions not only had an impact on the economic aspect but also became a strong signal for business actors to comply with applicable trade regulations.

The Ministry of Trade will continue to strengthen cross-sectoral synergies, including with law enforcement officials and local governments to ensure that all business actors carry out trade honestly, in an orderly manner, and in accordance with the provisions.

"This effort is part of the Ministry of Trade's commitment to realizing domestic market security by encouraging the creation of public trust, justice and sustainable commercial order in Indonesia," said Moga.
