As A Result Of The Flood, The Semarang Tawang-Alastua Railway Has Not Been Passed

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI said that until Wednesday afternoon, the route between Semarang Tawang Station (SMT) and Alastua Station (ATA) could not be passed due to some of the railroad tracks being flooded.

For your information, flooding in the Semarang area, Central Java has occurred since Tuesday, October 28 night and continues to this day.

Based on the latest monitoring on Wednesday, October 29 at 13:45 WIB at km 2+3 to km 3+0, the water level on the upstream route was recorded at +16 cm and on the downstream route +19 cm from the rail head.

KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba said that since Tuesday night, October 28, KAI together with BTP Semarang have deployed technical officers and water pump equipment, as well as prepared a locomotive of BB 304 and CC 300 assistance to support the handling process in the field.

Furthermore, Anne said monitoring of water levels was carried out intensively for 24 hours to ensure traffic security before reopening.

"Travel safety is KAI's top priority. For this reason, we are still temporarily closing the Semarang Tawang-Alastua route until conditions are completely safe for trains to pass," said Anne in an official statement, Wednesday, October 29.

Anne said KAI also apologized for the inconvenience felt by the customers.

"KAI is grateful for the patience and understanding of the community. All ranks are currently trying their best so that conditions cross and recover quickly and services can return to normal," said Anne.

As a result of this flood, KAI Daop 4 Semarang also canceled and changed temporary relations for a number of train trips.

Anne said that as a form of service responsibility, KAI provides 100 percent ticket fee refunds outside of message duties for customers whose trips are canceled.

"Refund submissions can be made at the station counter or through Contact Center 121, up to a maximum of D+7 from the date of departure. KAI officers at the station are also on standby to help customers affected by changes in schedules and cancellations of travel," he said.
