JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) continues to strengthen its role as the main channeling bank for Subsidized Home Ownership Loans (KPR) in the country. As of the end of August 2025, BRI has distributed KPR Subsidies to 107,244 beneficiaries throughout Indonesia with a total outstanding of IDR 14.65 trillion.
BRI President Director Hery Gunardi detailed that of this amount, around 97 percent came from the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) scheme which contributed to supporting the 3 Million Government Houses Program to provide access to affordable housing financing for Low-Income Communities (MBR).
He emphasized that in the distribution of subsidized mortgages, BRI always applies the precautionary principle. Every credit application through a strict assessment process to ensure that prospective debtors meet all the criteria set.
"In the bank giving credit, of course, there are assessments and existing provisions that must be met. Well, on that basis we also see what the reality is, and we know which ones can, which ones have not or cannot," he said, Tuesday, October 21.
He added that this approach is the key in keeping the quality of financing healthy. This is reflected in the ratio of non-performing loans (NPL) for the BRI Subsidy KPR which is well maintained.
As for the funding side, BRI ensures full readiness to support public housing financing, where in the second quarter of 2025, BRI liquidity is in a strong and adequate condition with Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) at the level of 84.97 percent.
This condition shows that liquidity space is very adequate to support sustainable growth. In addition, the additional liquidity of IDR 55 trillion from the government has also strengthened BRI's ability to channel subsidized housing financing.
Nevertheless, Hery admitted, the challenges in housing financing are still quite large, especially because the housing backlog in the lower middle class segment reaches around 10 million units.
Meanwhile, one of the obstacles that are still often encountered is the lack of understanding of potential customers regarding application procedures and access to financing.

"The key is the socialization and convenience of prospective customers to submit and get financing," said Hery.
Hery said that with the support of more than 7,000 branch offices spread throughout Indonesia, BRI also has the ability to accelerate the expansion of access to financing services to remote areas. This wide network makes it easier for people and prospective customers to obtain information, apply for financing, and enjoy banking services optimally.
"This advantage makes BRI a strategic partner of the government in accelerating the realization of the people's housing program and meeting the needs of decent housing for the community," concluded Hery.
