Minister Of Transportation Dudy: Connectivity And Safety Are The Key To Fair Transportation

Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, emphasized that connectivity and safety are the two main foundations in building a reliable, efficient, and just transportation system.

Dudy said these two things were also the main focus of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) in the first year of President Prabowo Subianto's administration to realize Asta Cita's big vision.

"Consectivity and safety in the transportation sector have a big double effect on economic growth and equity, open business opportunities, and reduced gaps between regions," he said in an official statement, Monday, October 20.

In the land transportation sector, the Ministry of Transportation expands the reach of cross-border transportation, strengthens the transportation subsidies of people and goods, and modernizes urban transportation services.

There are also pioneering services that reach approximately 75 percent of remote areas, borders, and islands. The results of the second quarter survey as of June 2025 stated that the level of public satisfaction with land transportation services was 96.01 percent," he said.

Meanwhile in sea transportation, the Ministry of Transportation continues to strengthen the Sea Toll and pioneering ship services programs. As of September 2025, there were 107 pioneer ship routes, 26 PSO ships, and 523 Sea Toll voyages serving 104 ports from west to east of Indonesia. This program also supports the distribution of goods and suppresses price disparities between regions.

For air transportation, the government is developing pioneering flight services and air bridges. Currently, there are 266 passenger routes and 46 cargo routes with the realization of 23,404 flight frequencies and 183,681 passengers until July 2025.

According to data from Sisfoangud Perintis as of August 11, 2025, until July 2025, the realization of passenger pioneering air transportation has reached 23,404 flight frequencies with 183,681 passenger paxes.

Furthermore, Dudy said the Ministry of Transportation also innovated by presenting amphibious planes (seaplanes) and water taxis to open connectivity in the archipelago. One of the important projects is Groundbreaking Water Aerodrome at the Center Point of Indonesia (CPI) Makassar.

"For the implementation of pilot training for amphibious aircraft, it is carried out in collaboration with the Banyuwangi Indonesian Aviation Academy (API), which is the first training institution in Southeast Asia in terms of training and developing amphibious aircraft flights," he explained.

Dudy also hopes that amphibious aircraft will be the answer to transportation needs on Sulawesi Island which has a long coastline with the distribution of small islands around it.

As for water taxis, the route will be opened on the west coast of Bali, from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport (Sekeh Beach) to Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Canggu, to Uluwatu.

"This facility is expected to cut travel time, increase mobility, and support various sectors ranging from transportation, logistics, faster emergency health services for people living on small islands, to developing tourism and regional economy," said Dudy.

In addition to connectivity, safety is also a major concern. In the Christmas 2024 period New Year 2025, the number of accidents decreased by 13.96 percent, and in Lebaran 2025, the number of accidents decreased by 31.37 percent, with a decrease in deaths by 32 percent compared to 2024.

Not only people's mobility, but the Ministry of Transportation also wants to ensure that the mobility of goods is also safe, especially over-dimensional trucks overloading (ODOL). Dudy said that handling ODOL needs to be done as soon as possible so that no one becomes a victim anymore. For this reason, the 2027 Zero Over Dimension Over Load (ODOL) must be carried out immediately to maintain safety and competitiveness of logistics.

"The more we resign, we will provide more opportunities for accidents to occur. The sooner the better so that no more victims arise related to ODOL," said Dudy.
