19 Million Jobs Questioned, Pede Manpower Minister Can Capai Target

JAKARTA - The Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, said he was optimistic that the target of 19 million jobs echoed by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka during the campaign period would be achieved. According to him, this target can still be achieved during the 5 years of President Prabowo Subianto's leadership.

"This is a process, yes, what I understand. We are still in this year, we will see how many. We will see in 5 years. And I am optimistic," Yassierli told the media crew when met at the Ministry of Manpower Building, Monday, October 20.

According to him, during the Prabowo-Gibran administration, the government has issued a number of policies and initiatives that can create jobs. One of them is Free Nutrition Food (MBG) which is believed to be able to create jobs and absorb a lot of labor.

"It's only been 1 year and it looks like there are various trends of extraordinary initiatives. And I'm sure it will create jobs," he said.

However, Yassierli did not provide data related to labor absorption over the past year. According to him, the data still has to wait for the results of the National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) so that the figures given are more accurate.

"Just wait, my suggestion is to wait for the survey results. From there, it will be seen how many additions will be added in year to year, the formal, informal sector," said Yassierli.
