JAKARTA - Indonesia is collaborating on electrical interconnection with Malaysia through electricity imports.

This activity was carried out specifically for areas on the island of Kalimantan which are adjacent to the border between the two countries.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung said, the total import of electricity from Malaysia is around 200 megawatts (MW).

"This has been running and this is also an extension of the permit and we are also facilitating it," said Yuliot, Friday, October 17.

Yuliot also stated that the integration of electricity in ASEAN countries will be supported through the Electric Power Supply Business Plan (RUPTL), where in the next ten years 48,000 kilometers of transmission networks will be built.

This is a need for a transmission network for the national and also integration with ASEAN.

For Power Grid cooperation, the Government has mapped investment opportunities of IDR 600 trillion, which not only comes from the government sector but also the private sector.

"Our investment needs have been mapped, the total investment needed is around 600 trillion rupiah. That is certainly not only from the government but also how we encourage the private sector to also invest in national grids and also how to integrate between ASEAN. So we open investment opportunities for that," said Yuliot.
