Former Singapore Airlines Official Director Of Finance Garuda Indonesia

JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk officially announced the composition of the new Commissioners and Directors based on the results of the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) which was held today.

Based on the results of the EGMS, quoted on Wednesday, October 15, there is a new name in the board of directors of Garuda Indonesia, namely Balagopal Kunduvura.

He was appointed to occupy the position of Director of Finance and Risk Management.

Balagopal is the only foreigner (WNA) who is included in the list of directors of Garuda Indonesia.

He has previously served as Divisional Vice President of Financial Services Singapore Airlines since 2021.

Balagopal's career in the airline began in 2000, as Senior Technical Services Engineer.

shareholders also appointed Glenny Kairupan as President Director (Managing Director) to replace Military Commander Tsani Panjaitan who has served since November 15, 2024.

In addition, shareholders also appointed Thomas Sugiarto Oentoro as Deputy President Director (Wadirut); Neil Raymond Nills as Director of Transformation, and Frans Dicky Tamara as Commissioner.

Previously, PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk opened its voice regarding the news of the recruitment of a new financial director from Singapore Airlines.

The Director of Commerce Garuda Indonesia, Reza Aulia Hakim, did not directly justify or dispute the news of the recruitment of foreigners in the important position of the Garuda Indonesia board of directors.

However, Reza said the management fully handed over the recruitment of directors to shareholders, in this case the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI).

"We leave it entirely to the shareholders for this," he told reporters, at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday, September 22.

Kabar perekrutan orang asing pada posisi Direktur Keuangan PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk ini pertama kali diungkap oleh Anggota Komisi VI DPR Fraksi PDI Perjuangan, Mufti Anam.

Mufti pun meminta penjelasan dari manajemen maskapai pelat merah tersebut terkait dengan perekrutan orang asing untuk menempati posisi petinggi di Garuda Indonesia.

“Kami mendengar akan ada eksekutif dari Singapore Airlines masuk di jajaran Direksi Garuda Indonesia, itu betul tidak pak? Nah kami ingin tanggapan hal itu. Kalau betul, kenapa harus disembunyikan gitu pak?,” tanya Mufti dalam Rapat Dengar Pendapat antara Komisi VI dan Garuda Indonesia, InJourney Airports, dan IAS, Senin, 22 September.

The news of the recruitment of foreigners to the position of Finance Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk was first revealed by a member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives from the PDI-P Faction, Mufti Anam.

Mufti also asked for an explanation from the management of the state-owned airline regarding the recruitment of foreigners to occupy high-ranking positions at Garuda Indonesia.

"We heard that there would be an executive from Singapore Airlines in the ranks of the Garuda Indonesia Board of Directors, is that true, sir? So we want a response to that.
