JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) will carry out a dedieselization program in Eastern Indonesia in order to reduce electricity prices which reach 70 cents per kWh.
Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), Eniya Listiani Dewi, said that to create dedieseliation, the government would cooperate with PT PLN (Persero) as an assignment business entity.
Through the dedieselization program, the Diesel Power Plant (PLTD), which previously served the needs of the people in isolated areas, will gradually be shifted hybridly to utilize new and renewable energy (EBT) from Solar Power Plants (PLTS).
"East Indonesia, the price of diesel there to generate 1 kWh of electricity requires 70 cents. So, currently we enjoy electricity, the price is only 3-4 cents, while there (East Indonesia) is very high," said Eniya to the media crew, Monday, October 6.
Eniya continued, later PLTS will be equipped with batteries for energy storage
"There are a lot of batteries, we are still discussing it," he said.
