Bahlil Sends A Team To Dumai Imbas Refinery Fire

JAKARTA - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) claimed to have sent his team to Dumai, RIau Province to check Pertamina's Dumai refinery which caught fire on Wednesday, October 1.

"My team has not returned from the location," said Bahlil to the media crew at the BPH Migas Office, Thursday, October 2.

Bahlil said the goal of deploying a team to the field was to check the cause of the fire. For that he said he could not comment further on the incident.

On the same occasion, the Director General of Oil and Gas, Laode Sulaeman, agreed with Bahlil's statement.

According to him, the team was immediately sent to the location on Thursday morning after receiving a report from PT Refinery Pertamina Internasional (KPI).

"Today we just sent a team to see what the cause is, after that we will convey it," said Laode.

Laode also claimed to have received a report from KPI that the fire at Refinery Unit II Dumai did not interfere with refinery production.

"If the last night report I got from the GM, there was no disturbance. Keep producing, keep operating," continued Laode.

Previously, KPI emphasized that the Pertamina Dumai Refinery emergency response team had succeeded in overcoming a fire in one of the operational units, so that the situation was in a safe condition and was successfully controlled at 23.20 WIB.

Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR of Pertamina Dumai Refinery Agustiawan emphasized that the condition of fuel supply is generally ensured to be safe and under control.

The availability of stock of Pertalite products was recorded as not affected so that it could still supply Pertalite to the North Sumatra region (Sumbagut).

Untuk kebutuhan Solar area Dumai dan Siak serta kebutuhan Avtur area Pekanbaru dipastikan tetap dapat dipenuhi oleh Kilang Dumai. Sedangkan kebutuhan untuk sebagian area Sumbagut lainnya akan disupport dengan alih suplai dari kilang Pertamina yang lain.

“Dengan dukungan kilang-kilang lain di seluruh Indonesia, kami memastikan tidak ada gangguan suplai untuk masyarakat. Stok dan distribusi BBM tetap berada pada level aman,” tandas Agustiawan.

For the needs of the Solar Dumai and Siak areas as well as the needs of the Pekanbaru Avtur area, it is certain that the Dumai Refinery can still be met. Meanwhile, the need for other parts of the Sumbagut area will be supported by supply transfer from other Pertamina refineries.

"With the support of other refineries throughout Indonesia, we ensure that there is no supply disruption for the community. The stock and distribution of fuel remain at a safe level," said Agustiawan.
