The Government Still Debts IDR 55 Trillion To BUMN, Purbaya Promises To Accelerate Payments In The Future

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadivewa revealed that the government still has an obligation to pay compensation to a number of SOEs amounting to Rp55 trillion.

This figure includes a compensation debt for the discounted electricity tariff policy given to PLN.

Purbaya explained that the debt came from the implementation of assignments to SOEs that occurred during the first and second quarters of 2025.

"Rp55 trillion is the first and second quarters of this year. That's both," said Purbaya, Tuesday, September 30.

According to him, the compensation payment is scheduled to be made in October 2025, given the verification and audit process by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) which takes about three months.

"You see here, in the first quarter of II, why is it paid together? That's a grace period of 3 months, it should be faster" he said.

Purbaya admitted that the process of disbursing the compensation budget so far is too time-consuming, and is committed to accelerating the process in the future, so that the payment mechanism only takes one month.

"I promised them that one month there will be a new regulation or new policy so that the payment will be on time not too long as it is now," he explained.

He hopes that this acceleration can prevent repeated losses in SOEs due to delays in compensation funds that have an impact on the company's performance.

"The process is very slow, so it interferes with the cash flow of professional companies such as SOEs. But, later when it comes out on time, I hope this SOEs will not continue to lose," he said.
