PT PLN (Persero) signed an Electric Power Sale and Purchase Agreement (PJTBL) with Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) to supply electricity to the Rokan Working Area (WK).
It is known that WK Rokan is one of the largest oil fields in Indonesia that is the backbone of national oil production and requires a stable and reliable electricity supply.
Head of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), Djoko Siswanto, welcomed the cooperation. According to him, PLN's electricity reliability is a key factor in supporting PHR production.
"Electricity is very reliable for supporting production. Very, very vital, maybe its heart (electric) rather than production in Rokan," said Djoko, quoted Monday, September 29.
Similarly, Deputy President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Oki Muraza said, the existence of reliable electricity will strengthen PHR's steps in managing mature field wells in the Rokan WK.
"With the Electricity Sale and Purchase Agreement (Tenaga), we will increase the reliability of electricity in Rokan and of course we can maintain national production," said Oki.
Meanwhile, PLN's Director of Retail and Commerce, Adi Prianto expressed his appreciation to PHR for entrusting electricity needs to PLN.
"We certainly on this occasion would like to express our appreciation and gratitude for the good cooperation for the PJBTL between MCTN and PHR, namely for connecting electrical power with a capacity of 300 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA)," explained Adi.

Adi explained that this collaboration will be carried out in stages according to PHR needs. The initial stage includes a 100 MVA electricity supply from the Sumatra system consisting of 70 MVA high voltage connections at Balam and Petapahan targeted for Commercial Operation Date (COD) in October 2027, as well as 30 MVA mid-voltage connections in Dumai and Rumbai targeted for COD in October 2026.
To ensure electricity supply to PHR, MCTN as a subsidiary of PLN acts as an extra facility service provider in the form of converters that play a role in adjusting the service frequency from the standard 50 Hertz (Hz) to 60 Hz.
With the consideration of flexibility and reliability, PLN will also provide electricity supply facilities from the Sumatra network equipped with a total capacity of 175 MW (210 MVA), consisting of a high voltage connection of 150 MW (180 MVA) and an intermediate voltage of 25 MW (30 MVA).
