JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Land Transportation, supported by PT Teknologi Karya Digital Nusa Tbk (TRON) as a technology partner, held a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) entitled "General Transportation Electrification in Supporting the Use of Clean Energy". The event, which was held at the Grand Mercure Hotel Kemayoran, Jakarta, brought together the main stakeholders from the Central Government, Regional Government and transportation operators to formulate strategic steps in accelerating the adoption of clean energy-based public transportation in Indonesia.

This FGD aims to align vision and build a joint commitment in overcoming the main challenges of electrification of public transport, ranging from regulatory aspects, financing, infrastructure readiness, to technology. This initiative is part of the government's efforts to achieve the Net Zero Emission target by 2060 and improve air quality in urban areas.

One of the main agendas in this event is the signing of the Commitment to the General Transportation Electrification Program in Supporting the Use of Clean Energy. The signing was carried out symbolically by representatives from the central and regional governments, marking the seriousness and joint determination to realize environmentally friendly public transportation.

The event was officially opened by the Director of Road Transportation represented by the Director of Road Traffic, Mr. Rudi Irawan, S.Sit, MT, who emphasized the importance of collaboration as the key to success. In his remarks, he stated that the transition to public transportation electricity is a necessity that requires solid cooperation from all parties.

This is not only about replacing fleets, but building an integrated, sustainable, and regulatory ecosystem supported by strong regulations. This forum is a crucial platform to unite vision and align steps between regulators, local governments, and industry.

"We are ready to encourage policies that facilitate adoption, ranging from technical standardization to effective incentive schemes," said Rudi.

This session presents speakers from various backgrounds, namely Mrs. Indira Darmoyono from the Indonesian Transportation Society, Mrs. Rachma Nissa Fadliya as President Director of Perumda Trans Pakuan, and Mrs. Wendy Waas from PT Teknologi Karya Digital Nusa Tbk.

In terms of industry, PT Teknologi Karya Digital Nusa Tbk (TRON) as one of the supporters of battery exchange technology, highlighted the readiness and innovation of its products to answer market needs.

"We are ready to answer the electrification challenge with a comprehensive solution where we offer a battery exchange-based public transportation fleet with Battery as a Service (BaaS) and battery swabs," said David Santoso, President Director of PT Teknologi Karya Digital Nusa Tbk.

"This solution is designed to address the issue of high initial investment costs, charging time, and range. Furthermore, in the near future we will launch taxis and electric angkots based on swap batteries which will begin in collaboration with the Bogor City Government and other local governments. This is our concrete step to support the creation of modern and reliable public transportation services," he added.

Adhietya Saputra, Business and Project Development Division Head IBC, said the main component of electric vehicles are batteries.

"However, in building this ecosystem, of course, battery manufacturers must cooperate with other industry players starting from EV manufacturers, fleet operators, supplyers of battery as-a-services, as well as clean energy providers. Government support is needed in terms of establishing clear and measurable roadmaps, providing incentives to industry players and standardization from quality and safety aspects," he explained.
