JAKARTA - Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita held a business meeting with a number of leading industrial companies in Turkey, Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
The agenda aims to strengthen Indonesia and Turkey's manufacturing cooperation relations, attract direct investment as well as pave the way for Indonesia's involvement in the global supply chain.
"This meeting is important as a first step to build a roadmap strategy for cooperation in the manufacturing sectors of Indonesia and Turkey. We want this industrial partnership to be long-term, mutually beneficial and able to encourage real contributions to the economy of the two countries," Agus said in his official statement, quoted Wednesday, September 24.
When holding a meeting with Karadeniz Holding (a large business group engaged in the energy, finance, real estate, ships and logistics sector), they expressed their interest in exploring cooperation in the shippingard sector (ship budget) and providing energy.
"They also expressed support for participating in energy projects in Indonesia, one of which is in Batam which has the potential for high energy needs to support industrial activities and data centers," he said.
Next, when meeting with Kale Group (the largest ceramic manufacturer and building materials in Turkey), Agus explained, Kale has a great opportunity to support national priority programs, namely the construction of three million people's houses that will absorb large quantities of ceramic supplies.
In addition to ceramics and building materials, Kale Group also has a defense and aerospace industry portfolio that has the potential to be developed in collaboration with Indonesia.
Then, Agus discussed with Erisler, a Turkish food producer company that already has cooperation with Indonesia.
Currently, Erisler distributes flour for animal feed, but in the future they are committed to expanding their business into the food industry.
Indonesia welcomes this step because it is in line with efforts to strengthen the independence of the national food industry.
Meanwhile, in a meeting with T\"umuan, the company producing tractors and diesel engines, the Minister of Industry emphasized that the opportunity for cooperation with Turkey is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's program regarding food security.
Moreover, T\"umuan has a track record of cooperation in African and Asian countries that have expressed readiness to build production facilities in Indonesia as long as there is demand on a certain economic scale.
"The Turkish industry wants market guarantees if they produce in Indonesia. For this reason, we will provide guarantees through the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) policy of 40 percent, so that agricultural machine equipment products from T\"umuan can be absorbed in the domestic market, "said Agus.
According to Agus, Indonesia is not only a market but can also be a trade hub for Turkish products in the Asian region.
This is supported by Indonesia's position as one of the largest economic powers in the region and the existence of a number of trade agreements that have been established with various countries, including Australia.
"Indonesia is an old brother in Asia and we are ready to become a center for distribution of Turkish industrial products to expand access to regional markets," he explained.
He added that partnerships with Turkish industry players will bring great benefits to Indonesia.
