AHM Targets Sales Of Motorcycles To Reach 4.9 Million Units Throughout 2025

JAKARTA - PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) targets motor vehicle sales to reach 4.9 million units by the end of 2025. This amount is the same as last year's sales.

General Manager of Corporate Communication AHM Ahmad Muhibbuddin explained, until August 2025, domestic Honda motorcycle sales were recorded at 3.2 million units, while the overall market fell slightly by 1.7 percent to 4.26 million units.

"As of August 2025, we are at 3.2 million units, if the market is at 4.2 million units or a slight decrease of 1.7 percent. With this condition, we are sure we can match last year's sales," said Ahmad at the Astra Media Day 2025 event in Jakarta, Tuesday, September 23.

In 2024, AHM managed to sell 4.9 million motorcycle units or fill 77.8 percent of the motorcycle market share of 6.3 million units.

Meanwhile, based on the forecast of the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), motorcycle sales will reach 6.4 million units by 2025. From this projection, AHM targets sales to be the same as in 2024.

"This year, according to AISI's predictions, we also hope that it can be stable or the same (rich) last year," he said.

Meanwhile, to get around the weakening sales of motorcycles in Indonesia, AHM encourages export growth. In the January-August 2025 period, AHM exported 159,750 motorcycles.

The export sales grew rapidly to reach 48 percent compared to the same period the previous year. In 2024, AHM only exported 200,477 units.

"This is certainly interesting for our business, because in the midst of the domestic market challenging, we can get an increase in demand in the export market," said Ahmad.

Menurut Ahmad, model yang banyak diminati pasar global adalah skuter matic berkapasitas mesin di atas 125cc, seperti Honda ADV, PCX, Beat dan Vario. Pasar utama ekspor berada di kawasan ASEAN, dengan tujuan terjauh sekaligus terbesar adalah Brasil.

"Mereka (Brasil) suka motor. Dan motor-motornya buatan Indonesia," pungkasnya.

According to Ahmad, the models that are in great demand by the global market are automatic scooters with engine capacities above 125cc, such as Honda ADV, PCX, Beat and Vario. The main export market is in the ASEAN region, with the furthest and largest destination being Brazil.

"They (Brazil) like motorbikes. And the motorbikes are made in Indonesia," he concluded.
