JAKARTA - The government will increase the food aid program by 10 kilograms (kg) of rice and 2 liters of cooking oil per month. President Prabowo has decided to continue this rice food aid program until December 2025.
The Head of the National Food Agency (NFA), Arief Prasetyo Adi, confirmed that the government is prepared for this pro-people program, targeting its implementation in October.
"The rice food aid for the two months of October and November has been approved, in the form of 10 kilos of rice for 18.27 KPM (Beneficiary Families). Yesterday, during the discussion, there was a proposal from the Chairman of the House of Representatives' Budget Committee for an additional 2 liters of cooking oil. We are preparing something good for our community," Arief said in an official statement on Monday, September 22.
Arief also ensured that the food aid packages, consisting of rice and cooking oil, will be of good quality.
"Regarding quality, it must be good. The food aid cannot be of poor quality. Of course, the rice and cooking oil must also be of the same quality," he said.
For your information, the food aid program will utilize the Government Food Reserves (CPP) stocks managed by state-owned food enterprises. As of September 19, the CPP in the form of rice remained very adequate, totaling 3.91 million tons. Meanwhile, there were 7,000 kiloliters of cooking oil at the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) and 48 kiloliters at ID FOOD.
Arief emphasized that the oversight mechanism for the implementation of the food aid program continues to involve multiple parties, including Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), and the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).
Following the assignment from the National Food Agency, Arief continued, Bulog and ID FOOD will distribute aid according to government decisions. Data will also be uploaded to the system for verification by the BPKP and BPK.
"So, this mechanism is quite effective. This ensures that the public receives products that are targeted, on time, and of good quality. That's what we are continuously striving for," Arief said.
