JAKARTA - Section 2 of the Probolinggo Banyuwangi (Probowangi) toll road has been completed. The 11.2 kilometer (km) section will connect Kraksaan 'Paiton with a travel time of only 10-15 minutes, which previously could take about 30 minutes through national roads.

The project is the result of the operation cooperation (KSO) of PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI)-PT Acset Indonusa Tbk (Acset)-PT Nindya Karya (NK) (KSO HKI-Acset-NK). The presence of the Probolinggo 'Banyuwangi Package II Toll Road will help facilitate connectivity in East Java.

During the construction of the toll road, KSO HKI-Acset-NK continued to carry out its commitment to environmental principles, social and governance (ESG). One of them is by implementing environmentally friendly designs in operational buildings.

"In the Probolinggo Toll Road 'Banyuwangi Package II project, we use a wide-opening glass (media opening) in operational buildings to maximize natural lighting, so that it can significantly reduce electricity consumption," he said.

In addition to presenting quality infrastructure, the construction of the toll road also provides tangible benefits for the surrounding community. As many as 75 percent of the employees of the project are local workers.

If fully operational, later the toll road will present new connectivity in East Java, which will encourage tourism potential and development of surrounding MSMEs.

The construction of the Probowangi Toll Road is in line with Presidential Astacita number three, namely increasing quality employment opportunities, encouraging entrepreneurship, developing the creative industry and continuing infrastructure development.

As a whole, the Probolinggo Banyuwangi Toll Road has a length of 175.46 km and is divided into two stages of development.

The details, stage 1 which connects Probolinggo Besuki is 49.68 km long and Phase 2 connects Besuki Banyuwangi along 126.10 km.
