JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) denies the assumption that private gas stations buy fuel from Pertamina is contrary to Law No. 22/2001 on Oil and Gas (UU Migas).
Director General of Oil and Gas of Earth, Laode Sulaeman, said the government provided space for private gas stations to collect fuel from Pertamina. Laode also denied that this was a monopoly practice.
"If it's against, it's impossible to give an additional 10 percent. That's why it's given 10 percent, plus it. Yes, that's why synchronization. If we close it, it's impossible, so it's synchronized with Pertamina," said Laode to the media crew quoted on Thursday, September 18.
Laode said that previously the government had provided import quotas in 2025 of 100 percent of the 2024 quota with an additional 10 percent.
"If the monopoly is not possible, it can't be given 110 percent," added Laode.

According to him, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources summoned a private gas station last Monday to synchronize data with PT Pertamina as a state-owned business entity. However, until now no private gas station has submitted a purchase of fuel from Pertamina.
Laode reasoned, this is because private gas stations are still conducting internal analysis before cooperation between business entities is carried out.
"Not yet, because the private gas station is conducting internal analysis. So in yesterday's meeting they can't continue. It's still internal analysis first in each," said Laode.
