Authority Needs This Fiscal Budget To Realize IKN As The Capital Of Politics In 2028

JAKARTA - The capital city of Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan is targeted as the center of government and capital of Indonesian politics in 2028.

The capital city of politics is a city that is the center of government and administration of a country, a place where government institutions are located. This is marked by the construction of the State Palace, the Coordinating Ministry Office (Kemenko) to the offices of government institutions as well as the DPR/MPR, MA, MK and courts.

To make this happen, the IKN Authority requires a budget of IDR 10 trillion in 2025. The budget will be used to prepare the legislative and judicial regional infrastructure as well as its supporting ecosystem with a multi-year contract scheme targeted for completion by the end of 2027 or early 2028.

Secretary of the IKN Bimo Authority Adi Nursanthyasto said that the budget support for this year will be sustainable in 2026 with the provisional allocation stipulated in the Joint Budget Ceiling Letter for 2026 amounting to Rp6.2 trillion.

"This is used, among other things, to continue the development which has begun in 2025 with a multi-year contract scheme and other infrastructure development to build an ecosystem in building the formation of the archipelago as the nation's capital or to become the political capital in 2028," said Bimo in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission II of the DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, September 4.

Sementara itu, kata Bimo, OIKN membutuhkan anggaran sebesar Rp21,18 triliun untuk 2025.

Dari kebutuhan tersebut, pemerintah baru memberikan Rp6,2 triliun, sehingga ada gap sebesar Rp14,92 triliun.

"Gap tersebut telah ditindaklanjuti dengan Surat Kepala Otorita IKN yang ditujukan kepada Menkeu dan juga Menteri PPN/Kepala Bappenas pada 14 Agustus 2025 perihal penyampaian usulan tambahan anggaran OIKN pada 2026 sebesar Rp14,92 triliun," tuturnya.

Meanwhile, said Bimo, OIKN requires a budget of IDR 21.18 trillion for 2025.

Of this need, the government has only provided IDR 6.2 trillion, so there is a gap of IDR 14.92 trillion.

"The Gap has been followed up with a Letter from the Head of the IKN Authority addressed to the Minister of Finance and also the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas on August 14, 2025 regarding the submission of proposals for an additional OIKN budget in 2026 amounting to Rp14.92 trillion," he said.
