JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) continues to strengthen business fundamentals by emphasizing healthy and sustainable growth strategies.
Focusing on strengthening low-cost funds or Current Account Savings Account (CASA) is the key in creating healthier growth space for the company's long-term profitability.
BRI President Director Hery Gunardi explained that currently the company is measuredly encouraging an increase in demand funds and savings to maintain the efficiency of funds costs.
This strategy is also reflected in the increasing composition of low-cost funds (CASA). As of the end of June 2025, BRI's total Third Party Funds (DPK) grew 6.7 percent on an annual basis (yoy) to Rp1,482.12 trillion. Of this amount, the CASA portion reached 65.5 percent or grew double digits by 10.6 percent yoy.
This composition shows BRI's consistent strategy in encouraging the collection of low-cost funds through optimizing transaction equipment or transaction banking. With CASA increasingly dominant, BRI's cost of funds or Cost of Fund (CoF) can be reduced so as to support better long-term profitability," said Hery, quoted Wednesday, September 3.
Hery also said that the positive acceleration of the growth of low-cost funds was also supported by the optimization of digital channels which continued to record impressive performance.
As of the second quarter of 2025, BRImo recorded excellent growth in terms of the number of users and the volume of transactions.
The number of BRImo users increased 21.2 percent on an annual basis yoy to 42.7 million users, while the transaction volume rose 25.5 percent yoy to IDR 3,231.7 trillion.
Then, in terms of merchants, business transactions through BRI increased rapidly with the sales volume of merchants rising 27.2 percent yoy to Rp105.5 trillion.
The number of transactions also jumped 50.2 percent to 308 million transactions.
Not only that, BRI's QRIS performance also shows significant growth.

"This achievement confirms that BRI's digital transformation not only strengthens low-cost funding bases, but also expands an inclusive digital payment ecosystem for all levels of society in Indonesia," he explained.
On the other hand, BRI's efforts to reduce the cost of the funds also received support from macro conditions.
As is known, since January 2025, Bank Indonesia has lowered the BI Rate by 100 basis points, with the benchmark interest rate at the level of 5 percent in August 2025, which was followed by a decrease in interest rates between banks to 4.68 percent as of August 20, 2025.
"The decline in interest rates also helped reduce banking funding costs, support efficiency and open space for credit expansion," concluded Hery.
