Holds Simultaneous Cheap Food Movement, Bulog Distributes 43,000 Tons Of SPHP Rice

JAKARTA - The government through Perum Bulog held a Simultaneous Cheap Food Movement (GPM) at 5,709 points spread throughout Indonesia. Through this program, more than 43,000 tons of SPHP rice were distributed.

This program was held in order to enliven the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence. Participating in this program, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of SOEs, the National Food Agency, the TNI, Polri, Regional Government and a number of food SOEs such as Pos Indonesia, Pupuk Indonesia, ID Food, and PT Perkebunan Nusantara.

In Jakarta, the GPM activity of Stableized Rice Supply and Food Prices (SPHP) is centered in the Field of the Ministry of Agriculture Office and is also carried out in 44 other points. The people of Jakarta can obtain 5 kilograms (kg) packaged SPHP rice at a special price of Rp. 60,000 per pack, lower than the applicable HET (Highest Retail Price).

The Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, emphasized that the GPM was carried out to stabilize the price of rice that had previously been volatile.

"We want to build a healthy food ecosystem that has been everywhere. This cheap food movement is a real effort to maintain food stabilization, especially rice so that it is affordable and accessible to the public at good prices," Amran said in an official statement, Sunday, August 31.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, appreciated this movement. According to him, this program has had a significant impact on reducing the number of regions with an increase in rice prices.

"Four weeks ago there was an increase in rice prices in 233 regencies/cities, now it has dropped to 200 regions. This means that the movement of cheap food stability with Bulog stocks is the right way," said Tito.

Similarly, the Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso also expressed his appreciation for the synergy of various parties to maintain the stabilization of food prices.

"We express our high appreciation for the synergy of various parties in this cheap food movement. Hopefully, food availability and prices will always be maintained safely," he said.

President Director of Perum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said that this program is part of the distribution of SPHP rice which is targeted to reach 1.3 million tons for the period July to December 2025.

He also expressed his appreciation for the collaboration across ministries, institutions, and SOEs. Rizal said this movement is very strategic to ensure the availability of rice at stable prices in all levels of society.

"GPM is a clear proof of the government's presence in maintaining food security while protecting people's purchasing power," said Rizal.

For your information, until August 30, 2025, Bulog has distributed 299,600 tons of SPHP rice involving more than 30,000 partners throughout Indonesia. The average daily realization is in the range of 6,000 tons.

The distribution today is carried out simultaneously by reaching 4,320 sub-district points in 38 provinces, reinforced through cross-sectoral cooperation, namely 414 distribution points with the National Police, 449 joint points with the TNI, 129 points through the BUMN network, and 415 other distribution points.

Momentum ini sekaligus menjadi refleksi atas komitmen pemerintah dalam menjaga stabilisasi pangan di momen bersejarah HUT ke-80 Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia.

As part of the public service commitment, Bulog provides the Bella Bulog complaint service at 0811 1967 016, so that the public can submit complaints and input regarding the distribution of SPHP rice.

With a solid synergy across ministries, institutions, and SOEs, it is hoped that GPM will not only maintain rice affordability for the community, but also strengthen national food security.
