JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) said the decline in the price of copper concentrate export benchmarks (HPE) for the first period of September 2025 was influenced by the decline in the price of followed minerals.
Acting (Plt) Director General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade Tommy Andana said HPE on average copper concentrate commodities were set at 4,639.10 US dollars per Wet Metric Ton (WMT).
This value is down 0.42 percent compared to the second period of August 2025 which was recorded at 4,658.55 US dollars per WMT.
"This decline is influenced by the decline in the mineral price of participation contained in the copper concentrate. This decline is in line with the weakening of global demand, especially from the industrial sector in China, amid increasing supply from major producers," said Tommy as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 29.
The decline in the accompanying mineral prices contained in the copper concentrate, namely pure copper at 0.71 percent, gold at 0.18 percent, and silver at 0.26 percent. This decline is also in line with the weakening of global demand.
In addition, the decline in the HPE copper concentrate was also influenced by the weakening of gold and silver prices due to the strengthening of the US dollar exchange rate which was also one of the factors.
According to Tommy, the HPE copper concentrate was determined based on technical input from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) by referring to international market prices, namely the London Metal Exchange (LME) for copper and the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) for gold and silver.
