Early September 2025, LRT Will Add 2 Train Series

JAKARTA - The Jabodebek LRT will add two series of trains or trainsets in September 2025.

This addition aims to overcome the density of passengers, especially during peak hours.

Jabodebek LRT Executive Vice President Mochamad Purnomosidi said the addition of these two series is expected to cut the headway or shorter waiting times for train arrivals, especially in the morning and evening.

"Next month there will be an additional 2 trainsets. So on September 1 or 2 there will be 26 trainsets," said Purnomosidi at the Jabodebek LRT Operations Two Years, Jakarta, Thursday, August 28.

Currently, continued Purnomosidi, the number of trains operated by the Jabodebek LRT is 24 series. With this addition, the total is 26 series.

"In principle, the addition of 2 trainsets is to shorten the headway and increase the number of frequencies," he said.

Purnomosidi said that his party had also made a new train travel schedule. Later, the trip per day will be 424 trips from the current 396 trips.

"Physically we have prepared it, we have also prepared a train travel chart. So it's just a matter of walking," he said.

Previously, the Jabodebek LRT had served more than 43.6 million subscribers during its two years of operation since its inauguration on August 28, 2023.

User growth shows greater trust.

Executive Vice President of the Jabodebek LRT Division, Mochamad Purnomosidi said that in the first year of operation, the number of users reached 16,999,647 people, then increased to 26,697,014 people in the second year, or an increase of 57 percent.

Purnomosidi said the increase was also seen from the daily average, both working days and weekends.

The daily average on weekdays rose from 54,640 users in the first year to 90,931 users in the second year, an increase of 66.4 percent.

Sedangkan rata-rata harian akhir pekan naik dari 30.842 menjadi 40.599 pengguna, meningkat 31,6 persen.

Selain itu, kata Purnomo, perjalanan yang dilayani juga semakin banyak.

Dari yang semula hanya 158 perjalanan per hari, kini bertambah menjadi 396 perjalanan di hari kerja dan 270 perjalanan di akhir pekan.

“Dalam kurun waktu dua tahun, LRT Jabodebek telah melayani 43.696.661 pengguna. Angka ini bukan sekadar catatan statistik, melainkan cerita tentang jutaan perjalanan masyarakat yang memilih LRT Jabodebek untuk bekerja, bersekolah, berbelanja, hingga bertemu keluarga dan sahabat,” tuturnya dalam konferensi pers, di Jakarta, Kamis, 28 Agustus.

Meanwhile, the average daily weekend rose from 30,842 to 40,599 users, an increase of 31.6 percent.

In addition, said Purnomo, the number of trips served is also increasing.
