The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to accelerate the development of education infrastructure through the IC Phase People's School Program (SR).

This program is part of the government's efforts to provide access to free and quality education for children from extreme poor and poor families according to President Prabowo Subianto's direction.

Overall, Phase I work is divided into three phases, namely Phase 1A with 63 locations with operating status since July 14, 2025, Phase 1B with 37 locations functional on July 31, 2025, and Phase 1C with 65 locations. So that the total phase I number is 165 People's Schools.

"The development of this People's School is a tangible form of the government's commitment to building superior human resources. Collaborating with the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Public Works wants to ensure that this educational facility is built quickly and quality so that it can be immediately used in the 2025/2026 school year," explained PU Minister Dody Hanggodo.

Based on the verification results, as many as 65 SR Phase IC locations throughout Indonesia have been determined to be built. For 63 SR Phase IC locations built using the APBN, while for 2 SR Phase IC locations built using the APBD.

In the IC Stage, there are a total of 248 study groups (rombel) with a capacity of 6,190 students, covering elementary, junior high, and high school levels.

Minister Dody also emphasized that the implementation of the SR Phase IC construction went according to plan and showed significant progress.

"In terms of construction implementation, physical progress shows positive achievements. It is targeted that the SR Phase IC can operate in early September 2025," said Minister Dody.

Several SR Phase IC locations have shown progress above 90 percent, such as BLK Subulussalam, BLK Bireuen, and the Ex-SMP Unggul Building in Pidie Jaya, Aceh.

Kementerian PU melalui Direktorat Jenderal Prasarana Strategis telah melaksanakan renovasi ringan hingga sedang pada SR Tahap IC.

Untuk lingkup pekerjaannya antara lain, perbaikan ruang kelas, asrama, laboratorium, dan ruang administrasi, pengecatan gedung, pemasangan instalasi listrik dan air, serta pengadaan meubelair.

“Program Sekolah Rakyat diharapkan akan menjadi pilar penting dalam pemerataan pendidikan sekaligus pengentasan kemiskinan,” tandas Menteri Dody.

The Ministry of Public Works through the Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure has carried out light to moderate renovations at the SR Phase IC.

For the scope of work, among others, repair of classrooms, dormitories, laboratories, and administrative spaces, painting of buildings, installing electrical and water installations, as well as procurement of furniture.

"The People's School Program is expected to become an important pillar in equitable education as well as poverty alleviation," said Minister Dody.
