JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) estimates that economic growth in the second semester of 2025 will improve, driven by the continued positive export performance and increasing domestic demand in line with the expansion of government spending.

BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said that overall economic growth in 2025 is predicted to be above the midpoint of around 4.6 percent to 5.4 percent.

"The synergy and coordination of policies of the Government and Bank Indonesia continues to be strengthened to encourage higher economic growth in accordance with national economic capacity," he said at a press conference, Wednesday, August 20.

Perry said that government spending, including through the implementation of the Government's priority programs, could provide support for increasing domestic economic activities.

From the Bank Indonesia side, he said that the mix of monetary, macroprudential, and payment systems continues to be optimized to encourage economic growth in line with the low inflation and maintained stability of the Rupiah exchange rate.

In addition, Perry said, Indonesia's economic growth in the second quarter of 2025 grew by 5.12 percent (yoy), higher than the first quarter of 2025 economic growth of 4.87 percent (yoy).

He said that the increase in economic growth in the second quarter of 2025 was supported by investment in line with investment that grew positively and household consumption in line with higher community mobility.

"Exports of goods and services are also increasing, influenced by export uploading fronts to the US in anticipation of the imposition of tariffs and an increase in foreign tourist visits," he said.

Perry menambahkan, secara sektoral, seluruh Lapangan Usaha (LU) juga membaik, termasuk LU Industri Pengolahan, LU Perdagangan, serta LU Informasi dan Komunikasi.

Sedangkan secara spasial, ia menyampaikan bahwa pertumbuhan ekonomi seluruh wilayah meningkat, dimana wilayah Jawa mencatat pertumbuhan tertinggi.

Perry added that sectorally, all Business Fields (LU) also improved, including LU Industry for Processing, LU for Trade, and LU for Information and Communication.

Meanwhile, spatially, he said that the economic growth of all regions was increasing, where the Java region recorded the highest growth.
