JAKARTA - The government through the National Task Force (Satgas) for the Acceleration of the Formation of the Red and White Village Cooperative (Kopdes) targets as many as 15,000 units of the Red and White Kopdes to be active in operation in August 2025. Furthermore, in September 2025 there will be an additional 50,000 units and in October 15,000 units of the Red and White Kopdes can operate.

Minister of Cooperatives (Menkop) Budi Arie Setiadi explained that the target set was part of the national strategy to strengthen the people's economic independence while ensuring that the distribution of food, energy, and subsidized goods was more targeted. According to him, the Red and White Kopdes is an important instrument in building independent villages.

"That's why we have to hurry, 15,000 were our targets. Hopefully by the end of this month we can operate 15 thousand village cooperatives," said Budi Arie after attending the Ministry and Institutional Level Coordination Meeting (K/L) regarding the Technical Consolidation of the National Task Force for the Acceleration of the Establishment of the Red and White Village Cooperatives (Kopdes) at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Food, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 20.

In order to achieve this target, he continued, there are three things that are being pursued to accelerate, namely from regulatory aspects, business patterns, and operational technicalities.

In terms of regulations, the Ministry of Cooperatives together with related ministries are finalizing technical regulations regarding the distribution of financing, including the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) which regulates cooperative loan schemes of up to IDR 3 billion with an interest rate of 6 percent per year and a tenor of six years.

"Anyway, we are optimistic (we can achieve the target), don't worry. So what regulations hinder the operation must be harmonized," he said.

As an effort to strengthen cooperative institutions, the Ministry of Cooperatives has carried out various programs related to increasing the capacity of human resources (HR) and digitizing cooperatives by involving various parties such as the Ministry of Manpower, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), private parties to associations.

"In the future, a follow-up program will be carried out in the form of certification of cooperative management. With this step, we want to ensure that all Village Cooperative administrators have adequate competence so that cooperatives can be managed professionally and competitively," said Budi Arie.

Meanwhile, related to the digitization of cooperatives, the Ministry of Cooperatives has conducted various trainings on the use of digital technology and also the use of microsite platforms.

As of August 2025, it was recorded that 30,343 cooperatives had microsite accounts, with 2,921 cooperatives updating their outlet information.

"We have discussed with Telkom about digitization, we hope that all Village Cooperatives will later be registered on this microsite dashboard so that everything is clearer about business flow and transactions, we can even directly monitor its development," said Budi Arie.
