BGN Boss Calls Free Food Budget IDR 335 Trillion To Buy Raw Materials

JAKARTA - Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, said the Rp335 trillion budget was used for intervention in providing nutritious food to vulnerable groups.

"For the Rp335 trillion fund next year, there will be more for nutritious eating interventions. Because for the intervention alone we will use approximately Rp 1.2 trillion per day, or around Rp. 25 trillion per month. Because we have assumed the beneficiary covers 82.9 million," he said in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 19.

He explained, if the target of 82.9 million beneficiaries can be achieved by the end of 2025, then since January 2026 the MBG program will run fully, serving the community every month for a full year.

From that allocation, 85 percent will be used for the purchase of raw materials, of which 95 percent come from domestic agricultural products.

"That's why I gave the assumption that if 82.9 million has received benefits at the end of November or December, every day the Nutrition Agency will spend IDR 1.2 trillion every day. And that 85 percent is to buy raw materials. 95 percent of raw materials are agricultural products," said Dadan.

In addition to nutrition intervention, part of the budget is also intended for management support, including operations and strengthening the service digitization system.

Dadan admits that the digitization of the MBG program is still lagging behind and will be the focus of improvement next year.

"Seharusnya, ketika satu SPPG berdiri, itu sudah masuk dalam sistem digitalisasi, mulai dari anak-anak di absent setiap hari. Kemudian penempatnya itu masuk di Satuan Pelayan Pemenuhan Nutrition. Kemudian data bisa langsung ke pusat. Nah ini agak lagi dan kami akan kejar di tahun depan," ungkapnya.

To date, 5,905 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) have been recorded, serving more than 20.5 million beneficiaries. This number is expected to increase significantly in line with the acceleration of verification of 19,000 new potential partners.

President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the government's commitment to improving the quality of Indonesia's human resources through the MBG Program.

In the 2026 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget Draft (RAPBN), the government allocates a budget of IDR 335 trillion specifically for the program.

This was conveyed by Prabowo in a speech delivering the 2026 State Budget Bill and the Financial Note at the Plenary Session of the Opening of the First Session of the DPR for the 2025 '2026 Session Year at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Friday, August 15, 2025.

According to the President, the budget will be used to distribute free nutritious food to 82.9 million beneficiaries throughout Indonesia by 2026.
