Benny Tjokrosaputro's Confiscated Land Turned Into Rice Fields, Can Produce 2,640 Tons Of Grain Harvest

BEKASI - The government held a big harvest on the confiscated land of the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) from the convict in the Asabri investment fund corruption case, Benny Tjokrosaputro in Srimahi Village, North Tambun District, Bekasi.

The harvest is part of the Food Independent Prosecutor's program, in synergy with the Ministry of Agriculture, PT Pupuk Indonesia, Perum Bulog, and the West Java Provincial Government.

Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence (Jamintel) Reda Mathovani said the confiscated assets belonging to Benny Tjokrosaputro in the Bekasi Regency area alone reached approximately 330 hectares, consisting of 414 plots of land.

"Of the entire land that was used as a pilot for the rice planting project, there were 4 plots of land located at Perum Gria Asri, Cerimai Village, North Tambun District, Bekasi Regency with a total land area of approximately 7 hectares," he said at a press conference, in Bekasi Regency, West Java, Tuesday, August 19.

Reda said the rice varieties planted on the land were Cakra Buana and Inpari. However, what today's harvest is Cakra Buana varieties. Padi this type has a shorter harvest age with a potential harvest of 7 to 8 tons per hectare.

"Where this Cakra Buana variety has the potential to produce 7 to 8 tons of harvest per hectare or as much as 32 tons. This means that 2 times the harvest is usually only able to produce approximately 3.5 tons per hectare or as much as 14 tons," he said.

Furthermore, Reda said that Perum Bulog will absorb approximately 65 tons of farmers' crops at a price of Rp. 6,500 per kilogram (kg), or equivalent to Rp. 364 million.

"Of the total planting land for the pilot of the Prosecutor Mandiri Food program project, approximately 65 tons with a purchase value by Bulog according to government standards of Rp. 6,500 per kilogram or a total of Rp. 364 million," he said.

However, from this harvest activity, continued Reda, not all can be harvested because of the different varieties of rice seeds. Even so, he said the potential for harvest could reach 2,640 tons.

"It can be imagined that if all of the 330 hectares of assets in Bekasi Regency are planted with rice, then the potential for harvest can reach 2,640 tons of unhulled rice or Rp. 17.16 billion per 3 months or Rp. 51.48 billion per year," he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman said that the Prosecutor's Mandiri Food program has an important role to play in supporting food security to remote areas.

"But what is no less important is that there is a big harvest of the Mandiri Food Prosecutor. And that's a tremendous impact, people sometimes don't know. The Attorney General, we go back and forth here, if we order the Head of the Provincial Agriculture Service, it's normal that 5 times haven't worked yet," he said.

"But if Pak Kajati, Mr. Kajari asked, had he planted it yet? That night he also lowered all the fertilizers," he continued.
