JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto said the government had succeeded in building and opening 100 People's Schools (SR). This is the government's effort to break the chain of absolute poverty in Indonesia.
"One of our efforts to break the chain of absolute poverty is to form a People's School (SR). We have succeeded in building and opening 100 SR," Prabowo said in a speech from the President of the Republic of Indonesia at the MPR and DPR Annual Sessions at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.
He hopes that there will be 200 People's Schools by 2026 and become 300 units of SR in the following year.
"We hope next year it will be 200, the following year it will be 300 and so on," he said.
According to the Head of State, People's Schools are intended for small communities and really have very low income.
"This People's School is for those from the lowest deciles, 1 and 2 deciles, from those whose income is really very, very low. We (made) dormitories, we empower them with good quality education," explained Prabowo.
