JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) will expand the reach of beneficiaries of the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG) located in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas.

The Special Staff of the Head of BGN, Redy Hendra Gunawan, targets that by next September, beneficiaries in the region will start enjoying the service.

This effort was carried out in line with the acceleration of the operation of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) which became the spearhead of program implementation.

"We are targeting that in September, beneficiaries in the 3T region can already experience the Free Nutrition Food Program," Redy said in an Weekly Update broadcast online, Thursday, August 14.

He also encouraged various parties outside the local government to collaborate in preparing supporting infrastructure for the MBG Program. Redy said, accelerating infrastructure development in the 3T area is the key so that the local community can immediately feel the benefits of the program.

"In addition to local governments, we encourage other parties to cooperate with BGN in preparing infrastructure in the 3T area," he said.

Previously, the National Nutrition Agency noted that 5,800 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units or SPPGs had been operational and served around 20 million beneficiaries throughout Indonesia.

"Today, the National Nutrition Agency has operated 5,800 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units which reach around 20 million beneficiaries," said Redy.

Today, continued Redy, there are around 17,000 prospective SPPG partners who have entered the verification stage and have gone through the preparation process. Thus, in the next few weeks, BGN will start operating many SPPG partners to achieve the target of 82.9 million beneficiaries this year.
